Pregnant With My Fear”

The room felt colder.
Lina watched the doctor’s expression shift from confusion… to fear.
“What do you mean?” Lina asked, her voice trembling.
The doctor swallowed hard.

“I—I see a fetus… but there is something else beside it. A shadow-like mass. It doesn’t look like a normal medical condition.”
Lina’s stomach twisted.
“A shadow?”
The doctor nodded slowly.
“It’s almost as if… something is attached to the baby.”
Attached.
That word shattered every remaining piece of courage inside her.
The doctor stepped back from the monitor. “I think you need further tests, maybe a specialist. I’ve never seen anything like this.”
Lina could barely hear her anymore. Her ears were ringing.
She dressed in silence and left the hospital. The streets felt blurred, voices distant.
Something was wrong—terribly wrong.
When she reached home, Daniel was already back from his work trip. He rushed to hug her.
“You look pale. What happened?” he asked, cupping her face.
Lina opened her mouth to speak…
but before she could say a word…
A loud BANG echoed from the nursery room—the room they had decorated just three days ago.
Daniel flinched.
“What was that?”
Another bang.
Then a dragging sound.
Something—or someone—was moving inside the empty room.
Daniel took a cautious step toward the door.
“Stay here,” he whispered.
But as soon as he touched the doorknob…
The room fell silent.
Completely silent.
He pushed the door open.
The crib was shaking… slowly… rhythmically… as if someone had just been leaning over it.
And on the wall, written in something dark and smeared, were the words:
“SHE SHOULD NOT BE BORN.”
Lina screamed.
But what terrified them most wasn’t the message…
It was the tiny child-sized footprints leading into the crib—
—and never coming out.
