Small towns really don\u2019t need much to set off a gossip wildfire, and this was practically pouring gasoline on the flames.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I pressed down hard on the gas pedal and headed home. My mind raced through every interaction I\u2019d had in the past week. You must\u2019ve gotten sloppy, Nick. I can\u2019t believe you\u2019d throw our 10 years away for some fleeting affair like this.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I stared at Kate, speechless.
