While standing in the church with the man she loved the most, a young woman looked at the priest when he asked if anyone had a problem with the marriage. Suddenly, an elderly man barged into the church, telling the priest he was against the wedding.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cYou\u2019re gorgeous!\u201d Myron told Hilary minutes after meeting her at a party for the first time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hilary felt butterflies in her tummy when she saw him look at her from head to toe. It had been ages since a man last complimented her, and she couldn\u2019t recall what it felt like when a man held her hand while looking into her eyes. They thought it was strange of Myron to propose to her too soon, but their suspicions vanished when they talked to him and saw how much he admired their daughter. During the preparations, Hilary noticed many things about her soon-to-be husband that she had never seen before. During one of the discussions, she noticed Myron was interested in the material side of things.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Although Hilary did not say anything to him then, she thought it was strange of him to think about the gifts. She wanted him to talk about their relationship, future, and how they would support each other after marriage, but it seemed like Myron was interested in other things.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI guess he\u2019s just acting immature,\u201d Hilary thought, unaware of Myron\u2019s plans.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A few days before the wedding, Myron came to Hilary\u2019s house and told her something she wasn\u2019t expecting. \u201cI think we should have a prenuptial agreement. What do you suggest?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cYes, I think that\u2019s a smart decision,\u201d Hilary said after a moment\u2019s thought. \u201cWe should be prepared for the worst.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cExactly!\u201d Myron exclaimed. \u201cI think we should add a clause that states that if you initiate a divorce, you would have to pay up a fortune!\u201d he chuckled coldly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She thought it was strange of him to bring up a prenup, and she couldn\u2019t be entirely sure if he was joking about it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Later that day, Hilary called her lawyer and asked about the clause. She thought Myron was acting selfish, but the lawyer assured her this clause was quite common.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cDon\u2019t worry, Hilary,\u201d the lawyer said. \u201cThe same rule would apply to Myron if he initiates divorce.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cHe would pay me the same amount?\u201d Hilary asked.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cYes,\u201d the lawyer replied.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cYou don\u2019t have to worry about anything. Most people add this clause to their prenup agreement.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hilary felt relieved after talking to her lawyer and felt terrible for thinking Myron was greedy. She called him and said she was ready to sign the prenuptial agreement. However, another strange incident made her doubt his intentions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A few days later, Hilary was cleaning Myron\u2019s cupboards when she stumbled upon a divorce certificate with Myron\u2019s name. \u201cWhat is this, Myron?\u201d Hilary immediately confronted him. \u201cYou never told me you were married!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWhy should I believe you?\u201d Hilary rolled her eyes and looked away.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI swear this marriage means nothing to me,\u201d Myron said. \u201cAll I want to do is forget about it, and that\u2019s the only reason I never told you about it. Trust me, honey.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI\u2019m marrying you in a few days, and I have no idea who you are!\u201d Hilary started crying. \u201cI\u2019m starting to doubt my decision now.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cCome on,\u201d Myron hugged her. \u201cYou know how much I love you. Why would I ever lie to you, my love? Stop crying, please.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Once again, Myron cleared Hilary\u2019s doubts through his magical words. He convinced her he wasn\u2019t keeping any secrets, but the truth was otherwise.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI am against this marriage!\u201d an unknown man shouted while walking down the aisle.
A day before the wedding, Myron was talking to someone on the phone at Hilary\u2019s place.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIf you mess it up, I won\u2019t be able to vouch for myself!\u201d he whispered, unaware that Hilary overheard him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hilary woke up early on her wedding day and started getting ready. She was excited to marry the man of her dreams but had no idea what awaited her inside the church. She couldn\u2019t wait to see what her groom looked like.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Once she was ready, she went to the church with her family and was delighted to see how well everyone had dressed up for her big day. All her friends and family were waiting for her to walk down the aisle and stand beside Myron.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Suddenly, the guests started whispering amongst themselves while Hilary gasped in shock. She looked at Myron, who was staring at the man angrily.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI warned you, Myron, didn\u2019t I?\u201d the man grumbled. \u201cYou refused to listen to me, so now you must bear the consequences.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Suddenly, a team of police officers barged into the church while Myron tried to escape. However, he couldn\u2019t get away because the police had surrounded the church from all sides. They arrested and dragged him outside while Hilary kept asking Myron what was happening.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWhere are they taking him?\u201d she cried. \u201cWhat have you done, Myron? Why don\u2019t you stop them?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hilary collapsed on the ground and cried hysterically.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Why did he do this to me? Why did he play with my feelings? Hilary thought she would faint from the pain of what was unfolding.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Then, the man who had canceled her wedding walked toward her. \u201cI\u2019m so sorry for what you are feeling right now,\u201d he said. \u201cThe police arrested Myron because he was accused of repeated fraud.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWhat?\u201d Hilary gasped. \u201cBut how do you know that?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI\u2019m Myron\u2019s estranged father,\u201d the man said. \u201cYou can call me Mr. Brown.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cBut he said his parents had passed away,\u201d Hilary was shocked.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI know he keeps lying to girls,\u201d Mr. Brown said. \u201cHe cut ties with me when I discovered he was a professional gigolo and was looting girls by marrying them for money.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWhat?\u201d Hilary couldn\u2019t believe her ears.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI tried my best to stop him, but he never listened,\u201d Mr. Brown said. \u201cI had given up on him until the police knocked on my door one day asking me if my son lives here.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cMyron had given my address everywhere because he knew the police would come after him,\u201d Mr. Brown continued. \u201cI got so sick of this but knew he wouldn\u2019t stop. His mother cheated on me the same way.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It turned out that Mr. Brown had contacted Myron to warn him when he learned about Hilary. The father wanted his son not to play with Hilary\u2019s feelings, but Myron refused to listen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIt was you who called him yesterday?\u201d Hilary asked. \u201cHe lied to me that it was his ex-girlfriend.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIt was me,\u201d Mr. Brown said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI called him, but he didn\u2019t listen to me. So I had to call the police.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Whatever Myron did in the past few months started making sense to Hilary. She finally understood why he had been acting so strangely.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
