I was flying peacefully, window seat, thinking \u2014 an hour and a half flight, everything will be fine. In front of me sat a somewhat heavyset woman in a colorful sweater. As soon as the plane took off, she abruptly leaned her seat back without even looking.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Me \u2014 ah! \u2014 because my knees were pressed against the seat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cExcuse me,\u201d I said politely, leaning forward, \u201ccould you lift your seat back a little? I\u2019m really cramped.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She didn\u2019t even turn her head:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI\u2019m more comfortable this way.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I took a few seconds to process her answer and tried to move my legs \u2014 no chance. I decided I wasn\u2019t going to let it go. I pressed the button to call the flight attendant.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A young woman in uniform approached:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cYou see,\u201d I explained, \u201cthe passenger in front of me has reclined her seat so that my legs are stuck. I can\u2019t even move.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The flight attendant politely leaned toward the woman:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cExcuse me, but could you please lift your seat back a little so your neighbor is more comfortable?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The woman turned around with a look as if I had personally ruined her vacation:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cMy back hurts. I paid for my seat, so I can sit however I want.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The flight attendant clearly held back from rolling her eyes:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe ask that you consider the comfort of all passengers.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The woman sighed slowly and lifted the seat back a few centimeters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cHappy now?\u201d \u2014 she tossed at me over her shoulder.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWell, my legs haven\u2019t regrown yet, but it\u2019s better, thanks\u201d \u2014 I smiled.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She snorted, and the flight attendant gave me a barely noticeable wink and walked on.<\/p>\n\n\n

About thirty minutes after the first \u201cattack,\u201d I was almost relaxed. And then \u2014 bam! \u2014 her seat flew back again. My knees were under pressure once more.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cSeriously?\u201d I said out loud, but she didn\u2019t even flinch.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

That\u2019s when I realized \u2014 diplomacy no longer works. I decided to act and get revenge on this rude, impudent woman. Here\u2019s what I did. Continuation in the first comment \"\ud83d\udc47\" \"\ud83d\udc47\"<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Slowly, with an innocent look, I lowered the tray table, grabbed the plastic cup of tomato juice (they were serving drinks at that moment), and placed it on the edge, right under her seatback.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We sit. Five minutes of silence. Then she moves slightly \u2014 and\u2026 splash! The juice lands on her white bag that was beside her, and a little on her sweater.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She jumps up abruptly and turns around:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWhat is this?!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cOh!\u201d \u2014 I make big eyes. \u2014 \u201cSorry, you moved so suddenly\u2026 The tray is small, you see, I warned you \u2014 it\u2019s cramped.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She gets up, waving her arms indignantly:<\/p>\n\n\n

The same young woman approaches:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWhat happened?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI was just sitting, drinking juice, and the seat in front of me\u2026 well, it went back on its own, and\u2026\u201d \u2014 I gesture to the stain. \u2014 \u201cApparently, physics.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The flight attendant clearly understands, but with a stone face says:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cCome, I\u2019ll give you some napkins. And please make sure the seatback is locked.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
