It all started with quiet sounds \u2013 as if someone were rustling or scratching inside the walls. At first, my husband and I blamed the neighbors or the old house. I pressed my ear to the wall and felt a slight vibration \u2013 as if something alive was moving inside.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cLet\u2019s tear down the wall,\u201d my husband said. \u201cI\u2019m tired of this noise. Inside the wall was a huge wasp nest, teeming with live wasps.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Later, we learned that wasps choose warm, sheltered places to build their nests \u2013 which is why they often settle in attics, abandoned buildings, or even inside the walls of houses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Their nests grow very quickly: in one season, a colony can reach several thousand individuals.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/hayinfo.info\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/uley.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-44936\"\/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/hayinfo.info\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/uley.jpeg\"><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The danger of wasps isn\u2019t just in their painful stings. Their venom can trigger severe allergic reactions, up to anaphylactic shock. It\u2019s especially dangerous if children or allergic people are nearby.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We were shocked that we had been living literally side by side with this \u201cneighborhood\u201d all this time.
