That evening, a cold autumn rain was falling. The man was walking home when he heard a faint whimper by the roadside. Under a streetlight, in the wet grass, lay a German shepherd \u2014 thin, wounded, her dirty fur clinging to her body.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A week later, he took the German shepherd home with him. The pups stayed at the center under the supervision of scientists. One of the veterinarians said:
