The plane had just reached cruising altitude. I was settled by the window, had my headphones on, and opened my book. Everything was calm until something cold and unpleasant touched my armrest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I slowly turned around \u2014 and froze. On my armrest lay a dirty foot in what used to be a white sock, now gray and worn.<\/p>\n\n\n

The guy behind me didn\u2019t even bother to move his foot. Without lifting his eyes from his magazine, he lazily said,
\u2014 Relax, sweetheart. It\u2019s just a bit tight here.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2014 Tight? That\u2019s no excuse to stick your feet wherever you want! \u2014 I snapped, feeling anger rising.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He finally looked at me, smirked, and said without moving his foot,
\u2014 If you don\u2019t like it, go sit in business class. I heard there\u2019s more room there.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A few passengers turned their heads. I could feel my face heating up.

He snorted.
