The cold, damp forest was covered in fog when the car stopped in the middle of the clearing. The men dragged the old man out \u2014 he barely resisted, breathing heavily, pressing his trembling hands to his chest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cAlright, old man, time to pay, isn\u2019t it?\u201d the tallest one said, cracking his knuckles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

They pushed the old man to the ground. He fell to his knees, his hands shaking.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI\u2026 please\u2026 give me time\u2026 I will pay everything back\u2026 I swear\u2026\u201d his voice broke, turning into a hoarse gasp.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cHow long are we supposed to wait?\u201d another man crouched beside him, grabbing him by the collar. \u201cYou\u2019ve been promising this for three months.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI\u2026 I will pay\u2026 I\u2019ll find the money\u2026 I\u2019ll take another loan\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe need guarantees,\u201d the man in the leather jacket said coldly. The others began laughing and exchanging knowing glances.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The bandit turned to the one next to him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cCut off his finger.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The old man froze. Then he began to tremble and burst into tears, pleading:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cNo\u2026 please\u2026 I\u2019ll pay everything back\u2026 I\u2019m begging you\u2026 no\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The man had already taken out a knife and grabbed the old man\u2019s wrist.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A strange, deep howl echoed between the trees. Not really a howl \u2014 more like a vibration, as if the forest itself growled.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWhat was that?\u201d one of them asked, turning around.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the next second, a huge white shape flashed between the trees.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And then he appeared \u2014 an Alabai. Huge, massive, with a broad chest and a heavy paw almost like a bear\u2019s. His fur stood on end, his eyes were dark and filled with fury.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWhat the hell\u2026\u201d one of the bandits managed to say.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The dog charged without any warning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With a powerful strike, he knocked down the man holding the knife. The man didn\u2019t even have time to scream \u2014 the dog was already over him, growling so deeply the air vibrated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The bandit tried to hit him, but the Alabai grabbed his wrist with his strong jaws \u2014 not tearing it, but squeezing hard enough to make him drop the knife and scream.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cGet him off!\u201d another shouted, backing away.<\/p>\n\n\n

The Alabai spun around and lunged at the next man. He tried to stay on his feet, but the enormous dog slammed into him with his chest, knocking him to the ground.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The tallest bandit pulled out a club, but the Alabai lowered his head and took a step forward \u2014 his gaze so fierce that the man froze. He understood: the slightest movement and the dog would tear into him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cLet\u2019s go! Now!\u201d someone yelled with a trembling voice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The bandits ran to the car without even trying to look brave. The doors slammed shut, the engine roared, and the car sped away.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Meanwhile, the Alabai stood in front of the old man, breathing heavily, still alert.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cOh\u2026 my protector\u2026\u201d the old man whispered, hugging his dog.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The dog snorted softly, as if trying to comfort him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
