The pillow filling had turned into something strange \u2014 it was covered with reddish spots, looked moldy, and in some places, it seemed burnt.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To the touch, it was damp and crumbly. It felt like it wasn\u2019t a pillow anymore, but something baked and burnt.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It turned out the pillow filling decomposed due to prolonged exposure to moisture. Over time, materials like foam or latex can react with humid air, especially if there\u2019s no ventilation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
